Which extensions require a subscription?

You may already be familiar with Switchvox and all of the different "Extension Types" that you can create inside the system. It is important to note that you do not need a Subscription for every extension you create inside your Switchvox.

Here are all the Extension types that require a Subscription:

SIP Phone or SIP Adapter for Analog Phone (ATA) - Any SIP phones, like Polycom SoundPoint phones or a SIP softphone. Also includes Analog Telephone Adapters (ATAs).
Analog Phone - This extension type is for regular analog telephones that are physically plugged into the PBX via an FXS port.
Virtual Extension - Virtual Extensions are extensions for users without a phone. They can be used for voicemail boxes, or can be set up with call rules that always cascade to the user's cell phone. They behave exactly like SIP Phone extensions except they do not show the phone as "Unreachable" in the System Status screen.

Extend Your Hardware Warranty to 3 or 5 Years

Switchvox comes with a standard 1-year warranty, but for a low cost you can extend the coverage and replacement of your Switchvox Appliance for up to 5 years!

About Extended Hardware Warranties

  • For the first 90 days following your warranty Start Date, you may purchase one extended warranty for your hardware. After 90 days have elapsed, Digium will not allow an extended warranty to be applied to your hardware. For example, if you purchase a 3-Year Extended Warranty, you cannot achieve 6 years of warranty by purchasing a second 3-Year Extended Warranty. Your hardware platform is only warranted for the maximum period of the original warranty and any one extended warranty.
  • For customers who have purchased the Three Year Extended Appliance Hardware Warranty, Digium will, for a period of three (3) years from the Start Date, which is a period of two (2) additional years beyond the Standard Appliance Hardware Warranty of one (1) year, warrant that the product purchased by customer shall be free of defects in material and workmanship under normal authorized use consistent with the product instructions.
  • For customers who have purchased the Five (5) Year Extended Appliance Hardware Warranty, Digium will, for a period of five (5) years from the Start Date, which is a period of four (4) additional years beyond the Standard Appliance Hardware Warranty of one (1) year, warrant that the product purchased by customer shall be free of defects in material and workmanship under normal authorized use consistent with the product instructions.

Advanced Replacement

Digium's hardware warranties do not provide for advanced hardware replacement. In the event of a failure of your in-warranty hardware, you must follow the procedures given in the Digium Return Policy.

Choose the Right Subscriptions Plan for You

All Switchvox hardware appliances include one year of software maintenance, and 10 Silver-level Subscriptions. It's easy to upgrade your Subscriptions plan, and to purchase additional Subscriptions for all of your phone extensions.

Your Switchvox Subscriptions & Maintenance Plan includes three things:

  • Technical SupportSubscriptions are available in three plans that dictate the level of technical support service you have access to: Silver, Gold, or Platinum.
  • Software maintenanceSoftware updates can include major releases, minor point-code releases, and bug-fix releases.
  • User-extension LicensesEach phone-type extension needs a Subscription.

There are three levels of Subscriptions Plans:

  • Platinum: 24x7 phone and online support, with 4-hour M-F target-response times (Maximum of 5 after-hours incidents).
  • Gold: 8x5 phone and online support, with 24-hour M-F target-response times.
  • Silver: 8x5 online support, with 24-hour M-F target-response times.

Gold and Silver plans offer support 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. This is assumed to be normal business hours in the customer's timezone.

If you are planning on installing and maintaining the Switchvox solution yourself, you have the option of purchasing phones directly from Digium

When you buy phones from us, we provide the following:

  • Setup - The Polycom phones arrive pre-configured, labeled and ready to work with your Switchvox PBX right out of the box. You will fill out an online form with extension and networking information and we use this information to pre-configure your system/phones before we ship. See example image below.

  • Advanced Feature/Functionality - When you purchase phones from us they include a “Phone Feature Pack” that gives you advanced feature/functionality on your Polycom phones.   • Warranty - A one year guaranteed replacement warranty.
